Survey Results

In order to find out what change people would like in Oakland and what people would like to know about our campaign. We created a survey. We surveyed 32 6th graders and 27 7th graders. These are the questions we asked,

What do you know about Raymond Nemaia and his campaign?

Out of all of the students we asked 41 students knew nothing about our candidate, Raymond, and his campaign. From this data our groups now knows that promotion and advertising of our candidate and campaign is needed. Hopefully after we advertise more people will start to know who Raymond is or about his campaign.

What form of green energy do you feel is most beneficial to Oakland?

38 of the students that took the survey thought that solar power is most beneficial to Oakland. That is around 60% of participants in the survey. We also believe that solar power is the way to go as our group has selected that as our choice for renewable energy.

What type of green spaces would you like to see more of in Oakland?

We gave a selection of 4 types of green spaces people would like to . The choices were Parks, Hiking trails, Forests, and Nature parks. The most requested one was Parks which 50% of people picked. The next most requested were Forests 43.1% of people wanted forests. Then there was Nature parks which 41.4% of people voted for. And the least requested was Hiking trails with 24.1%.

How often do you see Illegal dumping?

Around 35% people saw Illegal dumping once every 2 months or less, 24.1% of people saw it once a day or more, about 20% of people saw illegal dumping once a week, and 19% saw illegal dumping once every few days.

How far is the nearest grocery store? (Walking distance)

This last question is focusing on Food deserts and how long it takes to walk from your house to the grocery store. Most people said that it takes around 5 minutes or less. Which is great because that means they are not in a food desert because they have access to fresh foods. However, 13.8% have to walk over 20 minutes to find food and if they don’t have a car are unlikely to make that trip over going to a fast food place that might be closer.
